External or internal insulation is used to improve the overall thermal efficiency of your home or business.
A wall insulation system is thermally insulated, protective and decorative involving the use of expanded polyurethane foam or phenolic foam, topped off with a reinforced mineral and a render of any colour you choose.
All homeowners, including landlords, whose homes were built and occupied before 2006 can apply. This is defined as the date your electricity meter was installed.
Grant funding can only be issued once per property for each type of works. This means that any property which previously availed of wall insulation via the Better Energy Homes scheme, or any other government scheme, cannot receive additional support for further wall insulation works.
Homes built from 2006 onwards should have been constructed to the 2003 Building Regulations and should not need significant upgrades.

Either solution will drastically help reduce your energy consumption, However If possible we recommend External insulation over internal insulation. This is because internal insulation requires floor space within your home, usually up to 60 – 100 millimeters. Internal wall insulation can also be disruptive and require removal and refitting of switches, radiators and kitchen units or anything else attached to the exterior facing walls of your home.
External insulation does not affect internal floor space and external insulation can help to rejuvenate the look and feel of your home.
Cold bridging – Cold bridging is where cold is transferred through the walls in your home from the outside to the inside.
Exterior or external insulation negates some cold bridging by wrapping the house in insulation separating the cold air from the walls. where internal insulation still allows some cold bridges to remain.
